Congratulations to William (Brett) Crawford (Economics and Middle Eastern Studies majors, Class of 2018), for winning the 2018 Critical Language Scholarship (CLS) to study Arabic abroad this summer.

CLS received a total of twenty seven applications from FSU from different language programs and four finalists have been chosen to travel and study abroad on a full scholarship that covers tuition, airfare, room and board, and health insurance. The program will place Brett to study in Jordan, Oman, or Morocco.

The Critical Language Scholarship Program is an intensive overseas language and cultural immersion program for American students enrolled at U.S. colleges and universities. Students spend eight to ten weeks abroad studying one of 14 critical languages. The program includes intensive language instruction and structured cultural enrichment experiences designed to promote rapid language gains.
