THE CHINESE MAJOR PROGRAMS

(1) MAJOR IN CHINESE LANGUAGE AND CULTURE

Thirty (30) semester hours numbered above 2220 are required, including a minimum of six (6) semester hours at the 4000-level. A maximum of nine (9) semester hours from CHT 3000-level courses in Chinese culture and literature may count toward the 30 semester hour requirement. (2) Co-Major in Chinese and Japanese

Fifteen (15) semester hours in Chinese language courses and fifteen (15) semester hours in Japanese language courses all numbered above 2220, plus twelve (12) semester hours of CHT/JPT 3000-level courses in culture and literature. Of the combined thirty (30) Chinese/Japanese language coursework, at least six (6) semester hours must be taken from two 4000-level courses in one language and three (3) semester hours from a 4000-level course in the other language. (3) Major in Chinese with Business Concentration

A major in Chinese with a concentration in Business may be selected. The program consists of eighteen (18) semester hours of Chinese language courses beyond the A & S language requirement, plus a total of twenty-seven (27) hours in the business components (at least 12 hours of core courses and 9 hours in a specialized track from designated courses in the College of Business; a maximum of 6 hours of CHI 3000-level courses in Business Chinese may count toward the 27 business components requirement).
