Faculty, Graduate Students and Undergraduate Students Working Together to Support PAEC

Thu, 06/06/19

Stephanie Contreras, Jhoanna Méndez and Sherez Mohamed, graduate students of the Spanish program, recently hosted a campus visit for the high-school students of the Panhandle Area Educational Consortium (PAEC), a migrant education program that links migrant families to services and programs that support the well-being and education of their children. In an effort to expose students to a multitude of fields and professions, FSU faculty and graduate students across the disciplines shared their stories, discussed their research, and offered a network of support for the visiting students. In addition, the event included the collaboration of the undergraduate students of the Spanish program. Stephanie Bohigas, an undergraduate student majoring in International Affairs with a concentration in Spanish, accompanied students throughout the tour and discussed the ways in which she incorporates her Cuban-American identity into her professional aspirations and FSU student life. Caitlin Blanchard and Daniel Bravo, two students currently in Elementary Spanish II, put their Spanish to the test as they discussed their experiences as Pre-Med students at FSU, while taking the students on a Legacy Walk Tour.
