Karina Engelking graduated with a B.A. in English and American Studies from the University of Hamburg in Germany in 2017. She continues with her M.A. studies in British and American Cultures: Text and Media at this university but put that program on hold to pursue an M.A. in German Studies at FSU.
Brianna Flowers graduated with her B.S. in Criminology with a minor in German from FSU in Spring 2014. Three months later, she participated in the Congress Bundestag Youth Exchange for Young Professionals (CBYX) where she lived, worked and studied in Radolfzell am Bodensee and Mainz, Germany, for one year. Brianna is currently pursuing a Master’s degree in German at FSU. She is also an active fighter against human trafficking and has done some work with the Survive and Thrive Advocacy Center (STAC) in Tallahassee, Florida. She hopes to continue to bring awareness to this issue nationally, as well as internationally. Brianna is an avid jazz drummer and loves to travel.
Steven Helock graduated in 2017 from FSU with a B.A. in pure mathematics and a B.A. in philosophy, and is currently pursuing a Master’s degree in German Studies. His academic interests center around critical theory, including Marxism and gender studies, and specifically the relationships between politics and media culture. Apart from academics, he is a fan of music, playing the piano, cycling, drinking coffee, and reading.
Ryan Rogers graduated from FSU with his Bachelor of Arts in German in 2018. He returned to FSU in Fall of 2018 to resume his studies toward a Master’s of Arts in German.
In his free time, he enjoys musical theatre, playing piano, and playing with his dog and cat.
A native of Tallahassee, Jacob Salas earned his bachelor’s degree in Creative Writing from FSU and is now pursuing a Master’s degree in German there. Along with writing, literature and language learning, he has interests in various subjects including history, science, religion and philosophy. In his spare time he enjoys reading and writing. He also enjoys being in nature, doing such things as canoeing and running.
Wilson Xu received his B.A. in German and International Affairs from FSU and is currently working on his Master’s degree in German Studies. During his undergraduate career, he studied abroad at the Carl von Ossietzky Universität Oldenburg in 2015. This experience exposed him to European Law from a European perspective which led him to be interested in their approach to internet policy making. Outside of his academic studies, Wilson enjoys cycling, skating, fishing, and archery.
Melina Zohn, a native from Vero Beach, FL, graduated from FSU with Bachelor's degrees in General Music and German. She is currently earning her Master's degree in German Studies and continues to play piano and perform when she can.
